300w is a difficult cap. You can run laptop chargers , e-bike chargers , but not much else in the household. It's not high enough to add utility over the usb ports. You could see this as a good laptop extension, but not for any camping or home redundancy

Good deal.

The River 3 Plus is a better unit. However, this is a nice unit for a good price.

I'd rather have multiple smaller units than one giant unit for my needs, since we have a gas generator for those larger draw appliances like fridges and a furnace.

I use this for telecom equipment -- cable modem, wifi access point, family room light, etc. With the load we put onto it, it lasts for a good 8+ hours. I can't say a bad thing about it.

I also found that it has a VERY quick switchover -- almost as good as a proper UPS. Now, I wouldn't want to put my NAS onto it -- but for things like telecom gear, even if that blips out for a moment, it's entirely fine.

Larger units are nice for hooking your refrigerator up to so you don't have to get out of bed and get a generator set up when it's raining outside at 2am.

For things like cable models, routers, etc, is the switch over fast enough to keep the equipment on or does it power off before it gets on battery?

It's great for camping. Can run lights, a misting fan, etc

I use it as a backup/UPS for my router and fiber box so the internet doesn't immediately go down when the power goes out. About 20W of load so lasts a while.

One thing to consider: The River 3 Plus does not support USB‑C input charging, but the River 2 does.

Probably a noob question, but how do you have this setup for backup? Is it just plugged in /charging full time with the other equipment plugged in to it?

Yes exactly. The battery is plugged into the wall all the time and the modem/router are plugged into the battery. This is called "pass through power". Then if power goes off, the modem/router are powered by the battery for as long as it lasts. I have a different battery unit (EcoFlow delta 3 plus) but that is how I use mine. This is exactly how a UPS (uninterruptible power supply) works, but true UPSs generally have faster "switchover" time than a battery system like this. That difference may be meaningful for a desktop computer or NAS, but probably not for most other electronics. Note that with some units if the battery drains completely the ac output gets shut off and must manually be turned back on when power is restored.
