DOD is a Japanese outdoor company. Most of their stuff is designed on Japan, but made in Vietnam or some other southeast Asian company. Their camping style is much different than US style, as they tend to lean towards comfortable car camping. Tents like this are designed to be multi purpose with room to sleep and covered areas to hang out in. For some of their tents with an open bottom, u can buy a floor attachment.

Those complaining about no floor....WATCH THE VIDEO...it clearly explains that this is a multipurpose tent....no floor and wide open during daytime so you can come and go without taking your boots off....high enough to stand in. At night you transform it to a sleeping tent...close the walls...put down a floor and tighten things up.

To clarify for those that don't understand what this is. The open design is a freestanding rain fly that uses the poles, rather than the tent using the poles and the rainfly being dependent on the tent. So you can use it in that fashion. However, it has a intererior tent that clips into the poles that can be attached to either 1/3 end of the fly that is a full interior tent. They call it a sleep chamber. Floor, walls ceiling 2 door, windows per the description. Leaving the other 2/3 of the fly as a covered awning area that could be useful for extra gear a cooking area or chairs and tables for bad weather. The website also shows you can get a 2nd intererior tent and have one on each end and just have the center area open no floor for extra gear. However its currently sold out. REI had the Wonderland X that seemed to borrow from this concept, but was recently discontinued. Folks can look that up. I like the idea of these tents, would like to see one in person. I have a regular REI wonderland 4 w/mudroom. Mudroom has no floor and its as long as my tent. So I have a 50/50 split of tent and awning. So cant justify getting this, the footprint of this is long and wide so that should be considered.

The sleep chamber is a intererior tent. The rainfly uses the poles rather than the tent itself. Then the sleep chamber, that is a full intererior tent clips into those poles to make a full tent inside with floor walls ceiling and 2 doors. Just like the description.

DAC poles is great. Very strong. I've been doing a lot of tent shopping over the last few years and this actually seems like it is competitively priced (on sale, the original MSRP feels like too much).
