The WH 1000XM6 is Sony's premium noise canceling over ear headphone, with strong sound, a travel friendly folding design, and a sturdy hard case that makes it easy to carry. The current $303 brand new price with free shipping and no tax lands below typical open box and refurbished pricing, and the warranty adds value versus direct sales. Comfort is the main tradeoff, since the cups can run warm on hot days and some owners improve them with replacement ear pads. It looks like a solid travel focused option if you want the newest Sony tuning and can live with the heat.
The deal price of $303 was accepted quickly with free shipping and no tax reported.
Open-box pricing around $270-$280 on eBay was described as making this offer attractive.
The headphones were described as travel-friendly because the folding style suits packing better than XM5.
Comfort and breathability reportedly improved after swapping XM6 ear pads without sacrificing sound quality.
SquareTrade warranty handling was described as potentially as much of a hassle as not buying direct.
XM6 comfort can be an issue on hot days because the ear cups feel considerably warmer on the ears.
Some buyers were disappointed with XM6 performance versus XM4, saying XM4s are louder and require less careful handling.
Buying directly from Sony/Greentoe reportedly does not include a 2-year warranty that eBay listings include.
