This Star Fox preorder is a physical Switch 2 release that stands out mainly for nostalgia and updated visuals, with the preorder price sitting below the original SNES and Star Fox 64 launch prices. The improved graphics and background effects look appealing, and the game has enough pull to justify a Switch 2 purchase for some. The main concerns are value and timing, since the price has reportedly stayed the same since May, the physical edition is showing $59.99 for some, and Amazon preorder deliveries may slip past release day. It feels like a familiar remake with a few tradeoffs.

Common Questions (4)

  • The physical preorder is listed at $49.94/$49.95 in the deal thread, while the digital version is $49.99 and one comment reports seeing physical at $59.99. The practical takeaway is to verify the edition on the product page before ordering, since the price appears to differ by format or listing.

  • Yes, the physical preorder is expected to rise to $60 at release. That makes the preorder price lower than launch MSRP if you want the physical copy.

  • Amazon preorders may slip past release day even if the listing initially shows release-day delivery. The reported pattern is that the date changes a few days before launch to delayed, so it is safer to preorder elsewhere if release-day arrival matters.

  • The $49.94 price appears to have been unchanged since at least May 7. That suggests it may be a standing preorder price rather than a newly dropped deal.

Starfox 64 is still an incredible game. The 3DS remake/remaster is also fantastic. That said, who knows how this one will actually turn out.

Re-releasing OG Starfox again? With a new coat of paint? How about some new gameplay ideas for the single player? A multiplayer mode that will be a ghost town 2 months after release isn't worth this price.

The original star Fox on the SNES was $60 at release as well as the first remake, Star Fox 64. This second remake is a great deal for the above deal coming in lower than the originals $60 price especially if we include inflation
The 3DS remaster launched at $40 and was frequently on sell far below that.

I see kids complaining about the cost of games at $60-80. For me, I see games that have stayed the same price for 35 years. They don't know how good they got it!
You would have a point if not for dlc, microtransactions, season passes, loot boxes, battle passes, amiibo, Nintendo online/Pokemon home tax, etc.

The price for the skeleton of a game has somewhat somewhat consistent, but full games have been exceeding $100 for a very long time now.

They dont even need to do that, just design some new levels and battles already.

Even then I wouldn't mind this so much if it were like $30 physical. But calling it budget when the $60 its sold at is MSRP for many games sold today is laughably dishonest.

At any right if you want something different Starfox Assault was ok. I also adored StarFox Command when it launched although tbf touch screen gaming was still a very novel concept back then so it felt unique, doubt it would hold up as well today.

Don't preorder from amazon if you actually want it on release day. It will say expected delivery as release day until a few days before and then it will say they are delayed. Same thing has happened with multiple switch 2 game preorders that I have made. It's like Nintendo doesn't give them to amazon in time for release date delivery.

Ive been tempted on this game and will probably get it eventually but part of the charm on 64 is how you can make out where all the enemies are at all times. With all the improved graphics and background effects it looks great but it has to be much harder to quickly focus on certain things. Would have been nice if they added a few upgrades or power ups to the original game also.
