I have been keeping an eye on all of the Sonicare models online for the last several months, and this is a pretty good price for two DiamondClean Smart toothbrushes with TWO charging glasses (included usually only on the top couple models). I have been a long term user of the Sonicare and on the down side have noted that at about 4 or 5 years the speed of the brush seems to slow down and/or battery issues seem to start. Otherwise, it is a great toothbrush, and I have used both Oral B and Sonicare and like the Sonicare much more. The price on the Diamondclean Smart at Best Buy was on sale for $199 for Memorial Day weekend, but keep in mind that that was for ONE, and here for about the same price, you get TWO units. I do not use any of the smart features and this model allows you to manually make all of the adjustments without the app. The newer, top level model, the Prestige 9900, from what I can tell is harder to do that with...seemingly not having a MODE button on the toothbrush and requiring the user to change this on the app, assuming the default for any brush head is not the desired mode. I could be wrong, but I think only the DiamonClean Smart and the Prestige units have the visual pressure sensor warming (the light at the bottom), which I have found to be helpful. Just my 2 cents. Overall, I think this is a very good deal for the TWO units. Just a note...they did charge me an extra ~$10 for shipping. Thanks for the heads up.
Why? You can get other Sonicare variants that do same
I kind of explained why. The similar model from Best Buy was ON SALE this weekend for $199 and that was for ONE. Here you are getting TWO for $180 (or $190 including shipping). Can you get cheaper models for less.....sure, but they are not likely to come with the charging glass, which I think works well (you can put the glass in the dishwasher to clean)........and the lesser models don't have visual pressure sensor lights at the bottom. Also, the lesser models do not come with premium charging travel cases......just travel cases without the capability to charge the toothbrush. I think, if I remember correctly, this one comes with TWO travel charging cases.
These look like the same ole DiamondClean buttons that always get stuck and stop working shortly after the warranty runs out
I agree, but I read MANY reviews of the new Prestige, which did away with the intensity button and MANY people seemed to have a problem with accidentally changing the intensity of the brush by accidentally hitting the button. I have found, over the years that if you wash the buttons regularly under the water, it seems to prolong the longevity of the function....and the limiting feature seems to be the battery or motor on most of the ones I have owned. It is certainly a preference thing....but I would prefer a solid button that is hard to accidentally hit....rather than one you can change by bumping accidentally. Also, as I mentioned above, some functions on the Prestige seem to need the app to change. Again, I prefer hard buttons on the brush rather than having to find my phone to adjust.
Hate the $10 shipping. Anyone find it for the same price in-store?
Agreed, but for me in store is not a good option, since for in-store Costco contract does not accept anything but Visa and for some reason online they accept all credit cards. But even with the $10, it is still much cheaper than at other stores at $190. I have never figured out how many online prices include shipping at Costco, some charge a fixed fee, and some require a minimum spent amount or else they charge you for their "2 day shipping", and the things you have to add to your cart also have to be "2 day shipping" items.
Just an addendum, the model number on the bottom of the brush is listed as HX992B which is the exact same model as the one that I had bought in 2022 at Best Buy, as a single Diamondclean Smart toothbrush which was $215 on sale for one back then. This Costco model is $180/190 for two (without/with shipping). That model from 2022 also had a charging glass and travel case, but that travel case did not have charging capability.

The bottom of the travel case pops open and it contains a usb cord for charging. Did you check yours?
