This 15.3 inch MacBook Air deal stands out for pairing the M5 chip with 24GB of memory and a 512GB SSD at a price that compares well with recent Apple Education and Costco pricing. The larger screen and lighter Air design make it appealing for everyday use, while the extra RAM is the main upgrade that tips it ahead of 16GB alternatives. The base Pro still offers better sustained performance, a 120Hz mini LED display, more ports, and better speakers. B and H tax credits may soften the cost, but they are not the same as truly free tax.

Common Questions (3)

  • Yes. It's been around $100 lower than the prior B&H price, beats Apple EDU by about $219, and is only about $200 more than a 13" M4 Costco deal while adding the M5 chip and 24GB RAM. Several shoppers also chose it over Costco because of the extra memory.

  • Not always. B&H's "Free tax" is described as a tax credit for future B&H purchases rather than a true immediate tax waiver, though using a B&H credit card may avoid the tax charge at checkout.

  • The MacBook Pro has a mini-LED 120Hz display, more ports, better speakers, and a fan for active cooling, so it handles sustained loads better. The 15-inch Air is lighter and has the larger screen, but the base Pro still uses the same CPU/GPU class.

"Free tax" from BH is nice, but it's not really free tax, it's a tax CREDIT with BH for a future purchase, that then just has "free tax", and so on and so on.. sure if one really buys often from BH it's a rolling credit for the taxes paid, but parked credits always seem to be less valuable to me at least. The 15.3" 24gb/1TB has been ~ $1499 lately, maybe even $1449..
What are you talking about? I get instant 0% tax with Payboo credit card. There is no store credit here.

I'm sorry YOU ARE CORRECT.. I hadn't looked at it since it began before the pandemic, when it was NOT.an instant reduction of the tax amount (assuming one is paying with their payboo credit card of course) and it WAS a credit amount for the tax amount - one had to pay the full amount with tax, and then got a credit amount, which could be refunded to a credit card after some period of time - I think it was 60 days or more to account for returns and other things. So yes, now assuming one signs up for the payboo card, gets approved and used that payment method and pays I think in full, they only pay the balance for the product and any shipping and NOT the tax amount. Thanks
