To me this seems like a pretty good deal on an RTX 5080 rig right now, Its a lesser config than the $2400 32GB/2TB variant posted here not long ago but I think for the price it is quite reasonable.

The GPU is not proprietary in this case, the RAM can easily be upgraded and the SSD upgraded or a second one added later, the 1000 watt PSU is platinum 80+ rated and would even support a 5090, so I dont see how there could be any issue with the parts. Everything you need is there, upgrading memory and SSD is easy.

For an extra $600 you get no proprietary crap, X3d cpu which smokes intel for gaming, 16gb more ram, and 1tb more porn storage. And it's also a better deal than the $2400 "better variant" because of the above reasons

After 7% sales tax, that PC is $2675 , the Alienware is $1992. While I agree that it is of course better, its just in a totally different price bracket so its a not realistic comparison. It cost 34% more, which is significant. We might as well say, why not a 9950X3D? Why not a 5090? A 5080 rig under $2k right now is hard to come by, and this may be what certain folks are looking for, especially if you already have extra DDR5 memory or a spare NVMe SSD lying around.

This has 2x8GB of DDR5-5600. I believe Alienwares only have 2 slots so you really need to buy 32GB outright. That's another $300 right there. Also 2TB vs 1TB. That's another $100+. And a 9800X3D is substantially better than a 265F. I agree with that commenter: the MC PC is substantially better value. Still, you're going to be hard pressed to find a 5080 PC for sub-$2000 these days. Best use would probably be to upgrade an existing PC with 32GB+ of RAM and put the old GPU into this PC maybe? Also, not everyone has access to MC.

To be honest, everyone acts like the Intel chips are terrible for gaming when thats just not true, the higher the resolution the lower the benefit from X3D (in most cases, exceptions for games like Tarkov), so if someone is playing games at 3440x1440 or 4K where you are likely GPU bound , X3D wont do much for you in many cases. I think for a 5080 rig where you are almost certainly playing at 1440p+ its not as big of a deal, unless you have a very specific need like Tarkov. I would not hesitate to run this rig, I run a threadripper 9960x for my games (well , its for my work/productivity stuff, gaming secondary) and honestly its closer to a Ryzen 9600x 6 core CPU since games run on 1 x CCD (there are 4 x 6 core CCDs on my chip) and it does just fine, despite everyone telling me "I need" a 9800X3D. The X3D hysteria has hit unimaginable levels.

So how are they about taking them back or replacing if its in bad shape or has been abused? May get a crypto mining machine or gaming rig that was run hard?

Seems like a good deal with today's prices if you're looking for a pre-built.
