Kwikset SmartCode 260 is a keypad deadbolt that stands out for simple keyless entry, auto lock, and easy rekeying without a locksmith. The lock lights up, uses custom codes, and keeps daily access convenient for homes and rentals, especially when handing out a code instead of a physical key. It also avoids the battery drain concerns tied to touchscreens and Wi Fi app models. The main tradeoff is that it has no Zigbee, MQTT, or phone control, so it is best for straightforward keypad use rather than home automation.

Common Questions (4)

  • No Zigbee, MQTT, or IP means it does not support home-automation integration or phone-based lock/unlock. It is a keypad deadbolt rather than a Wi‑Fi smart lock, so it won't provide status checks or scheduling from an app.

  • At $67.89 it is viewed as a name-brand option, but similar Kwikset locks have been found for about $60 at Lowe's, including models with Z-Wave and Ring compatibility. That makes this deal reasonable for a basic keypad deadbolt, but not the lowest price seen.

  • Yes. Kwikset's SmartKey system lets you re-key the lock without hiring a locksmith, which is useful for rental turnovers, lost Airbnb keys, or changing access quickly and cheaply.

  • Yes. It lights up, has an auto-lock feature, and uses a keypad with custom user codes, which makes entry easier without carrying multiple keys.

We added similar Kwikset keypads to all our doors. They've made getting in and out much more convenient and I only carry a car key. No lugging a bunch of keys everywhere and fumbling to find the right one.

I bought this and I like it. I heard some bad reviews about newer models with either touchpad screen or wifi/app control feature draining the battery too fast. I just needed peace of mind without dealing with too much headache while still being able to use my current key with smartkey. It lights up, has auto lock feature, easy to replace battery. Thing to note is it does come in a different simplified? packaging and not the ones you would see at home depot.
That's why if you want wireless control, you want a z-wave or zigbee device. WiFi is power hungry.

Not a good price. Just got a similar kwikset from Lowes for 60 and it had z-wave and ring compatibility
So, your YMMV deal that you probably lucked up on makes this not a good price?

I rather have my China brand because it comes with a finger print reader and only cost me like $35 on sale, also has the keypad like this too. So I guess if your looking for a name brand not a bad price.

I tried to checkout at Littleton with delivery, but the price jumps to $89. I would love a $60 price for it, but can't find locally or otherwise.
Go to New Jersey by Jersey city or Paramus. Jk they still have a bunch in stock and if you want to be very slick. Capital One shopping app popped up with a $50 credit YMMV on my installed web browser and provided me a link via email for the shopping credit offer for shopping at Lowe's.

In CO, the Lowe;s in Littleton still has like 15. I picked up 2 a week ago, and online I can still checkout with more at the discounted $60.
The Parker location had them for even cheaper. Almost sent a coworker to pick them up, but I nabbed four from the Springdale Lowe's here in Arkansas.
