Sure it's not the specs of a $1500 laptop, I get that... but it's also only $600.
The Lenovo IdeaPad 5i (including its 2-in-1 variants) is a highly capable and versatile budget-to-midrange laptop. It shines in processing power, battery life, and build quality, but requires sacrifices in display brightness and keyboard feel. It is a strong, affordable choice for students and remote workers.
Key Specs & Models
Processors: Powered by Intel Core Ultra 5 or Ultra 7 processors.
RAM & Storage: Configurations generally range from 16GB RAM and 512GB to 1TB SSD.
Build: Aluminum chassis gives a surprisingly premium and durable look and feel for this price point.
Form Factor: Often sold as the IdeaPad 5i 2-in-1, featuring a 360-degree hinge for tablet and tent modes.
What We Like
Solid Performance: Intel Core Ultra processors handle heavy multitasking, web browsing, and mid-tier productivity with ease.
Premium Design: The all-metal construction resists flexing and looks sleeker than typical budget laptops.
Excellent Battery Life: Highly efficient, lasting 7–8 hours of mixed, normal use on a single charge.
Great Features: Includes a responsive touchscreen, an FHD 1080p webcam, and a physical privacy shutter.
What Could Be Better
Mediocre Display: Screen brightness typically tops out around 300 nits, which can be dim for outdoor viewing or brightly lit rooms.
Keyboard Feedback: Key travel is somewhat shallow and can feel a bit loose or mushy, making long typing sessions tiresome for some users.
Weight: At around 4 pounds (for the 16-inch model), it can feel a bit hefty and awkward when using it strictly as a tablet
