NOTE: the below is just a sample deal, it works with pretty much anything you can buy over the Amex offer threshold at ABT.com. The value here is in the ability to both price match and use the offer.

Another note: please do not ask ABT customer service representatives about the American Express offer; according to the experience of some people in this thread, they don't appear to be very well trained on it and don't know how it works.

Further note: most people in this thread have reported not receiving emails that the offer has been triggered, but it posts anyways.

Step 1: Check your Amex cards for offers. Abt.com currently has $125 cash back offer for a $900+ purchase.

Note: Not every account will have this, hence YMMV! Looks like the offer might also be different for different cardholders, including a $100 off $1,000. Mine expires on 7/31/2026, so if you want to hold out for a potentially even greater price difference, there's that option, as well.

Step 2: Abt.com will price match to Amazon via chat (they will send a secure payment link). Amazon still has it for $899. You do still pay tax on $899. For me (MN) the final price after the cash back posts will be $850.64.

Clarification: I paid $975.64, which will trigger the credit. The $850.64 price will be reflected once the offer posts.

Filler items: if you don't have sales tax, search for "corn bread" or "salsa" ($8-ish). There are also some travel accessories, like luggage locks, for $20.

Step 3: Well, there's not one, really. Abt is a certified Apple reseller, so there are no warranty issues here. Can still add AppleCare and all that.

Applies to other models, as well.

Those who make the payment successfully, do you see the order in your order history yet?

Got one before the deal went down. Price match was pretty easy. Thanks OP! The AMEX portion of the deal still works on the 15" version and makes that a damn good price too for those that missed the 13" version and find the offer on their AMEX offers.
For reference: I have an Amex blue cash everyday card and the offer was available to me.
I received a paid invoice from ABT but the order has not shown up on my orders page on their site.

Yeah, believe me, I'm still trying to justify the purchase myself beyond "hey, I was able to manufacture a good deal on a toy I kinda want".

Given those gift cards have value, your effective difference is going to be greater than just $250. I'd stick with your current machine, if it works for your use cases, to be honest.
yes correct my net spend would be around 400$ to upgrade from M2 to M5Smilie

So, basically, half the price of the new one. I wouldn't.

I used this on the 15" M5 Air model matched to 1099 before tax before the $125 credit.

Yeah, I emailed the guy who helped me place my order and he said that they basically sold out of all 13 inch base models.

I miss FatWallet - deal hunting was less well known then, and the signal to noise ratio was always superior over there compared to even early SlickDeals. But, SD is better than nothing and still helping me save money. Good enough.
