re: Costco keeping track of returns, why are you acting like returning something due to a price drop is some type of fraud? I'm not over here flipping macbook airs for profit. I upgrade once every few years. Costco customer service literally said "we can't match the price because we don't carry that build, you'll just have to return it, which is fine since it's within 90 days"

re: M4/M5 difference, for $100 I'll take the 2x faster NVMe read/write, 30% faster overall gpu, 2x external displays via one TB port, higher memory bandwidth, faster charging, future-proofed WiFi/BT, better trade-in value when the time comes, etc.

holy crap. guess I'm returning the m4 24/512gb I just bought from costco for $999. thanks op!

edit: curious why the downvotes? I can't return something I bought a few days ago because of a price drop?

edit 2: maybe it's not clear that Costco doesn't carry this build, so it can't be price matched/exchanged. they literally told me to return it you heroic do-gooders

Yes, extra RAM is more important than the next-gen processor for MacBook Air models. So an M4 with 32GB RAM would be even better than this model.

if one of your reasons for buying a Macbook is to keep it for a long time (at least 5+ years), then it would be wise to future proof it a little (add more RAM and storage) if you have the money to do so.

The difference is very small for M4 and M5. From M1/M2 is massive.

Plus Costco does keep track of returns
