re: Costco keeping track of returns, why are you acting like returning something due to a price drop is some type of fraud? I'm not over here flipping macbook airs for profit. I upgrade once every few years. Costco customer service literally said "we can't match the price because we don't carry that build, you'll just have to return it, which is fine since it's within 90 days"

re: M4/M5 difference, for $100 I'll take the 2x faster NVMe read/write, 30% faster overall gpu, 2x external displays via one TB port, higher memory bandwidth, faster charging, future-proofed WiFi/BT, better trade-in value when the time comes, etc.

holy crap. guess I'm returning the m4 24/512gb I just bought from costco for $999. thanks op!

edit: curious why the downvotes? I can't return something I bought a few days ago because of a price drop?

edit 2: maybe it's not clear that Costco doesn't carry this build, so it can't be price matched/exchanged. they literally told me to return it you heroic do-gooders

This is really good deal while comparing the same config with Apple edu store.
The price there is 1199 while you are getting it here cheaper than the edu store for same config.

Of course it's not fraud, but Costco has been known to cancel the memberships of those who often abuse their lenient policies. You're probably okay with just a small number of returns.

The M5 Pro is not any faster. Same clock speed, but it has more CPU cores for tasks that are compute intensive, such as rendering video.
The Pro chips deliver Thunderbolt 5, which is 80 Gb/s. But to get one, you have to buy the MacBook Pro, not the MacBook Air.
