Source: younger me without common sense. I tried to hold the arm down while attempting to attach the VESA mount. Lost my grip and the arm popped right back up in my face. Fortunately younger me also had 😺 like reflexes, saved myself a trip to the ER.

EDIT: Ended up nabbing one, $15 is a great price for a spare.
