Im so confused because they say these run large for their size, but I'm practically your same size and you're wearing XXL? But I never go over a L in shorts?

5'9", 183lb here, and the XXL is spot-on for me. Fits great in the waist and hips, no gaping, no tightness, just the right fit.

I was about to say the same. I'm barely 5'10" but almost 200. I've never even contemplated XXL and I like my pants and shorts looser. Not Adam Sandler loose, but I'm not going on a grape smuggling run.
I don't know about the 9" inseam smaller sizes (M, L, XL), but reviews are saying the 2X, and 3X run very small. I'm 5'10", 330lb with 30" inseam with a big belly and small butt, and I wear a 2XL in loose fitting Old Navy shorts like this. I'm trying a 3XL in these and still don't feel confident they will fit comfortably.

You don't say which length you got, 7"/ 5"/ 9" Inseam? Also, are your legs long, short or avg for 5-9?
My fit: I got the 9-inch inseam XXL, and honestly these big sizes (2XL/3XL) run way smaller than the small sizes, which is why the reviews are all over the place.I'm 5'9", 183lb with a stocky, muscular build and a bit higher body fat. The XXL fits me perfectly—no gaping, no squeezing, just right. Looking at the size chart, the XXL only has a 37.8" waist and 50" hips, so it's not actually that big. That also explains why some folks with similar height/weight can wear L; their body composition is totally different.Pro tip: Don't just go by your usual size or what people say about them running large. Measure your waist/hips first, then compare to the actual measurements on the chart. If you like a looser fit, definitely size up 1 from what you normally wear, especially if you're going for 2XL/3XL.

Does anyone know if the 9in inseam has deeper pockets than the 7in, or are the pocket depths identical for all three styles?

I bought 3 pairs last month when on sale and loved them! Buying more. Great quality and love the zipper pockets for when I do leg press machine keep my phone and AirPod case from falling out. Also the pocket is perfect size where it's big enough for phone but not too big where your phone is swinging and hitting your leg when jogging or running.

Oh yes these run short. Just got my XL - a size I can wear in practically every brand except Volcom - and they look like medium. I'm not even going to bother trying them on

I saw the first two reviews on Amazon with the pictures, and now I'm completely confused about the sizing especially after reading your comment.
