This rubber mat is mainly valued as a heavy, durable surface for garages, home gyms, ramps, and outdoor areas, with the flat side often used up and the textured underside helping with drainage and grip. It is praised for being comfortable underfoot, easy to hose off, and much cheaper than similar mats at Home Depot or Lowe's. The main drawbacks are inconsistent cuts and sizing that can leave gaps, plus the 1/2 inch thickness is not ideal for dropped weights. It can also be heavy to move, may smell at first, and may leave marks on floors.
Common Questions (6)
Not always. Some pieces are cut inconsistently, which can leave noticeable gaps when covering a larger area, so it helps to inspect and match them in-store if possible.
They work well for general home gym flooring on a hard surface, and the flat side is commonly used facing up. They are 1/2" thick and about 25 lbs each, so they are fine for walking, standing, and lighter gym use, but not ideal for dropping iron weights or for carpeted floors.
They are 1/2" thick, so they are not the best choice for repeatedly dropping iron plates or dumbbells. For that use, 3/4" mats or bumper plates are the safer option.
Yes. The underside has circular spacer patterns that help with drainage, and the mats have been used outside on wheelchair ramps and screened-in lanais without visible wear. They can also be hosed off, though they are heavy and not as soft as foam mats.
They can have a strong rubber odor at first, especially in warm conditions, though some in-store purchases were reported with little or no smell after a year. If you are sensitive to rubber odors, expect some smell initially.
Yes, they can be cut with a box cutter, and only the edge pieces usually need trimming for a custom fit. They are heavy and awkward to move, so handling them flat is easier than trying to roll them tightly.

Yes, I was planning on using it as a threadmill mat. Just wasn't sure if the mat will slide since I'll need 2 pieces to cover the area of the threadmill, and not just 1 piece.
These rubber mats a quite thick, probably aren't that soft on the feet, wouldn't be removable and usually rubber mats like this have some pores and cracks in them so it would probably hold in a lot of grime.
