This rubber mat is mainly valued as a heavy, durable surface for garages, home gyms, ramps, and outdoor areas, with the flat side often used up and the textured underside helping with drainage and grip. It is praised for being comfortable underfoot, easy to hose off, and much cheaper than similar mats at Home Depot or Lowe's. The main drawbacks are inconsistent cuts and sizing that can leave gaps, plus the 1/2 inch thickness is not ideal for dropped weights. It can also be heavy to move, may smell at first, and may leave marks on floors.
The embossed spacer side can improve shock absorption and help drain water during outdoor use.
The honeycomb underside design can let water hose off and drain for screened-in outdoor areas.
The rubber surface provides good grip for gym floor use and deadlift platform builds.
The mats can be cut to fit, with only edge trimming needed for many outdoor layouts.
Improper cutting and edge misalignment can leave noticeable gaps between pieces when covering larger areas.
The thinner 1/2-inch version may be less confidence-inspiring for dropped weights or heavy equipment.
The mats can arrive with cracks or splits when shipping rolls them tightly for transport.
Oil or contaminant spots on the flat side can cause slight foot sliding on tile surfaces.
