This SABRENT 10Gbps USB C NVMe enclosure stands out as a compact, tool free clamshell design that keeps the thermal pad aligned and uses an aluminum top as the heatsink. It has handled real world file transfers, backups, and DVR use with drives like the SK hynix P31, Lexar NM790, and Samsung 970 Pro without skips or temperature trouble. Reported speeds land around 990 MB per second read and 720 MB per second write, which fits the 10Gbps limit. The main caveat is that faster 20Gbps or 40Gbps enclosures are needed for higher sustained speeds, especially with hotter drives. A practical pick for old SSDs and routine transfers.
Makers doing long backup jobs, because the aluminum clamshell design and thermal pad contact help keep drives from overheating during sustained writes.
People moving an old NVMe SSD into external storage, because 10Gbps speeds are enough for file transfer and one-off migration without needing a pricier faster enclosure.
Home DVR setups with steady recording, because it can handle heavy writes without skipping when paired with an efficient SSD.
People testing multiple M.2 SSDs, because it opens tool-free and works well as a quick swap enclosure.
Video editors working directly from the enclosure, because 10Gbps limits sustained throughput and 40Gbps models are the better fit for burst-heavy workflows.
Users expecting PCIe 4.0 SSD speeds, because this enclosure tops out around 1GB/s and cannot fully use a faster drive.
People pushing large transfers over USB-C with hot-running drives, because sustained transfers can overheat and throttle.
