The Legion Go S with the Z1 Extreme stands out as a comfortable handheld with a strong 32 GB memory configuration, a good non OLED screen, and solid performance for Steam games and Windows launchers. Dual booting SteamOS and Windows works well, and the extra RAM helps it run demanding titles smoothly. Battery life is the main weakness, landing around 2 to 3 hours depending on the game, and the trackpad is poor for mouse navigation. Open box units have also been described as arriving in mint condition, making it a capable but battery limited handheld.
Steam library players who want a Windows dual-boot handheld, because SteamOS runs buttery smooth and the Windows partition handles Battle.net, Epic, and Game Pass.
At this price, several comments say it is poor value versus alternatives like the ROG Ally X, Steam Deck OLED, or waiting for newer Intel-based handhelds. The main reasons are the high price and the Legion Go S's weaker battery life compared with some rivals.
Battery life is reported as a weak point, with roughly 2-3 hours depending on the game and less for heavier titles. That makes it fine for short sessions, but not ideal for long trips without charging.
Yes. The 32GB configuration is described as noticeably better than 16GB models on the same APU, especially for smoother performance and fewer memory limits in games.
Yes. A dual-boot setup with SteamOS and Windows is reported to work well, letting Steam games run on SteamOS while Windows handles Battle.net, Epic Games Store, and Game Pass titles.
Yeah open box for $800? $1500 retail? Nothing about this is slick at all. Just gotta pack it up and wait for the storm to pass.
We need to remove the AI data centers from our country at least they are destroying our resources and actually causing insane damage to the environment, where are all the angry bleeding heart liberals when you actually need them to do something useful? Oh right they are going along with the party line and listening to their overlords telling them how AI is the future, it's amazing how fast the left shifts on "important" political ideology when their masters tell them what line of sh it to feed us. This is all the proof we need to show us that mega corporations are the real power in the world and they control governments. And most importantly they are destroying DIY pc's for good, I'n just a few years there will be no more owning your components, you will rent a service at insane prices with the money that the corporate overlords will pay us to be quite and stay out of the way, because AI and robots will replace all jobs in the very near future.
great system. Picked it up last black friday open box for $489 out the door. Its a great machine. I installed dual boot steamOS and windows and its solid. The steamOS for all my steam games is just buttery smooth and with the windows partition I can tackle battle net and epic games stores easily as well as direct windows games through gamepass.
At this point and price, id wait to see the new intel offerings in chips since they sound pretty powerful at the same wattage instead of buying this.

Ummmm what? The "left" are trying their best, considering the current GOP controlled everything. One of the only "left"s pushing hard for AI is Fetterman, and we all know he's not a democrat despite the tag on his name.
Examples are everywhere, but here are a few:
The AI Data Center Moratorium Act: Championed by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), this proposed federal legislation would freeze the building or expansion of AI hubs until Congress passes laws to ensure the technology is safe and doesn't worsen consumers' power bills.
Fair Share and Utility Reforms: Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer has pushed for a regulatory framework that ensures data centers pay higher rates and promote healthy communities rather than shifting the financial burden onto ordinary ratepayers.
In New York, a blue state, state lawmakers in Albany are poised to pass a one-year moratorium on the construction of massive, energy-devouring AI data centers.
In another "blue" state, Southern California communities have taken an aggressive stance against the infrastructure. Monterey Park became one of the first cities in the nation to pass a voter-approved permanent ban on data centers, following similar temporary bans enacted in cities like El Monte, Baldwin Park, and Montebello.
In Washington, the Seattle City Council Committee recently approved a one-year pause on new A.I. data center builds to thoroughly study their environmental and power consumption footprints.
North Carolina & New Jersey: Democratic state officials—such as NC Attorney General Jeff Jackson—are fighting to strip data centers of tax loopholes and mandate separate, higher utility rate classes for them. Similarly, NJ lawmakers are looking to claw back public tax credits being used to subsidize CoreWeave's large AI computing hubs.
There are many more, but again, there is only so much that can be done with the GOP in control of house and senate and executive orders getting signed left and right without congress oversite. Meanwhile, an executive order just gave most AI companies a HUGE boon.... Sounds like there is one "side" most responsible here, you should focus your efforts there.
Now that I provided you some education and clarity on the efforts of the "bleeding hearts". Lets focus on the deal, shall we?
I'd recommend everyone wait to see intel offerings on this, versus paying these prices for 3 year old tech at this point.

The device can run SteamOS and Windows via dual-boot, which keeps Steam games smooth while enabling Battle.net, Epic, and Game Pass access.
The 32GB RAM configuration can improve performance versus 16GB handheld models while still running the games with decent frame rates.
The open-box condition can arrive essentially brand new, making the purchase feel like a near-new unit for some buyers.
The Z1 Extreme model is reported to deliver strong performance after OS optimization and can still be working perfectly later.
Battery life is reported to be weak, with typical playtime around two to three hours depending on the game.
The trackpad is reported to be unusable for mouse navigation, which limits productivity or pointer-based gameplay.
The open-box deal price is criticized as poor value compared with alternatives like Ally Z1e or Steam Deck OLED at similar money.
Open-box purchases may require checking whether the unit is already registered before buying, which adds a potential hassle.
