I bought mine for about this price used off eBay a year ago and love it. Well worth it.

I use it in combination with lots of apps and training aids. I bought a lifetime subscription to Awesome Golf, which has a few good virtual courses and a great range function. I use it with Home Tee Hero, Garmin's simulation offering. That's 10 bucks a month but has thousands of courses that you don't find elsewhere, which lets me practice on the courses nearest to my home. I take extracts of data and ship them off to Gemini for AI analysis. When you subscribe to Garmin you can also capture swing video, which you can then upload to AI for feedback as well. Then there are a complement of free and low cost simulation options like OpenShotGolf, Muni Golf Sim and Infinite Tees (this last one is paid the other two free at present). OSG lets you set up external cameras and has a swing coaching capability.
I 3d printed a knock off of the Blue Brick, which I use in drills to try to keep my swing on plane.
I haven't exactly become Tiger Woods yet but I just managed to get under a hundred the other day, so I've got that going for me which is nice.
I did have a sub to GolfFix for AI swing analysis for a few months but found Gemini did the same for free.
One other question - is the swing video recording through garmin useful? I thought it was included for free and probably wouldn't pay $10/mo for it, but being able to correlate launch recorder data WITH video (ideally with annotated swing mechanics) is what I'm really after. What would you recommend for that as the goal?
I assume the course simulator is a separate add on (leaning toward awesome golf given one time payment). Would be great to have all of this in one app
I use a projector and an iPad or PC depending on what software I'm using. I hit into an impact screen.
Unfortunately the real time swing analysis isn't included in anything but the most expensive launch monitors and when it does usually runs as an expensive software subscription.
What you're talking about is doable with GolfFix and other swing apps, you don't even need the launch monitor. I found it somewhat useful, but decided to go with uploading to Gemini instead. Not real time, but I can see where the ball goes on the range and see some limited club metrics to tell me how I hit the ball, then Gemini looks at the video and does the rest including suggesting drills for improvement.
No sub needed for the basic range features and it includes 6 courses at E6 that can run off a PC or iPad.
The Garmin Golf app includes the video recording and the course simulator for ten bucks a month, which is about as reasonable as it gets.
