Community Reviews
The refurbished Roomba j7 plus stands out as a self emptying robot vacuum that is especially strong on carpet and helpful for homes with pets or long hair. The auto empty dock, object avoidance, and daily scheduling make it a real time saver, and the unit can keep dust and pollen down without frequent manual vacuuming. It is loud when emptying, slower and less precise than newer lidar robots, and the app and setup can take time. Some refurb units have needed repairs or had self emptying problems, so it feels best for buyers who value automation over top tier cleaning.
Common Questions (5)
Yes. Common upkeep includes changing filters, brushes, and rollers every few months, and some owners replace the main brush assembly or blower fan over time. Cheap aftermarket part kits are available, which helps keep ownership costs down.
At $150, it is considered a strong price for a self-emptying Roomba if you want automation and can live with the noise and maintenance. Some buyers have used refurb units for years with good results, while others report weak self-emptying or bumper issues, so condition and use case matter.
No. This refurbished j7+ listing is the vacuum-only model and does not include mopping, so it is not the combo mop version. If you want mop capability, you need a different listing or add-on.
It is reported to work well on carpet and for homes with pets, long hair, and mud or clay tracked in. It is less precise than newer lidar robots, but the self-emptying dock and durable build make it a practical workhorse for heavy-use homes.
The auto-empty dock is very loud, especially when the robot empties into the base. It can be noticeable on bare floors and during the emptying cycle, so it is best suited for homes where noise during cleaning is not a problem.

The J7 model, though, is shit. I bought one thinking I was upgrading in fall of last year. The same bumper broke twice in four months, after I went through the warranty process of mailing it in for repairs. Same spot. Two different parts. The J7 model, I think, is not worth $1.50, much less $150.

Flip every week and pull hair from roller and pull hair from bearings will extend life. Aftermarket rollers are cheap on eBay. I run 4 of these and have been very happy with time saved vacuuming.
Edit: I have always purchased used, and deep freeze on arrival for protection.
I use i7 (less likely to push dirt outside of vacuum) for bare floor and S9 (great suction) for carpet.
This deal is a very good price point

I feel like my Waze had a better cleaning. But this has auto empty which is great.
I have 3 females with long hair in my house. I have a Dyson animal full size. Which cleans much better. But I do like the automation and it keeps the house dust and pollen free because I can't vacuum manually every other day.
Also, just know this model is not the J7+ with the mop feature. THERE IS NO MOP on this
Also, at $150, i think its a good buy. I bought mine for $300 each. I do wonder the support as iRobot is coming out of bankruptcy restructuring
