From Thanksgiving through New Year's, you can buy discounted haircuts, which are then loaded onto a card. The discounted price per haircut last year was $14.99, and I got 10. I also have 4 remaining on another card at the pre-COVID price of $10.99 per haircut. I normally buy 24 haircuts each time.
When I received my haircut today, it was by someone new and more dominant. She was always like, "Look down! Watch your feet when I turn your chair! Okay, I was going to cut the hair on the side of your head shorter, that is why I said I was going to use this length tooth on the trimmer! etc." From the haircut, I learned she wanted to be in law enforcement, did haircutting on the side, and was working as TSA (yes, she was caught up when they did not pay TSA workers).
I tipped her $4 because I had just gone to the bank to spit a $10 into $5 1s and 1 $5. 20% would have been $3.60 on $18.00. I saved like $5 because of the haircut being $8.99 today. Everything fell into place!
Usually, if I tip, I tend to tip off whatever the haircut price was (even if the haircut price on that day is the discounted price). 20% off $8.99 would have been like $1.798 or $2.
