The Switch 2 is being framed as a solid holiday buy at BJ's, with free shipping on the $429.99 member price and a reported path to even lower effective cost through price matching or discounted gift cards. The deal stands out because a September price hike is expected, and the console is being treated as better value than other handhelds right now. The main knocks are the high base price, expensive games, and frustration with Nintendo's key cards and digital rights approach. Overall, it reads as a timely way to lock in the console before costs climb further.
Discount stacking reportedly lowered the effective cost by using discounted Nintendo gift cards or eShop cards before buying through Nintendo.
The "InClub only" listing still allowed ordering for shipment, with only in-store pickup potentially restricted.
A Best Buy price match plus switching pickup to a local store reportedly produced an easy $70 savings before a September price increase.
BJ's member pricing reportedly included free shipping and a limit of one per member.
Some deal strategies rely on discounted gift cards or eShop balances, which may not be straightforward for every buyer to execute.
Nintendo's "key cards" were criticized as an anti-consumer practice, and the deal was still rejected despite the price drop.
Concerns were raised that Nintendo could add internet-required DRM for non-physical games, potentially affecting Switch 2 titles.
Switch 2 pricing may not drop soon, and it could rise again after price increases.

A couple other notes to consider from various outlets:
After an explosive start, Nintendo Switch 2 sales are not quite hitting the heights they were at launch, at least in the West. Over November and December in the US, Switch 2 sales were about 30% down compared to how Switch 1 sold during its first Christmas on the market (TGB sources). That has continued into 2026. For the first two months of the year, Switch 2 sales are roughly 20% lower than what Switch 1 managed during January and February 2018. At this pace, Switch 2 will eventually fall behind the Switch 1.
Nintendo will produce fewer Switch 2 units than it previously projected in response to weakening demand for the console in the US, Bloomberg reports. Four million units of Nintendo's flagship device are expected to be made this quarter instead of the six million it had originally planned, according to unnamed sources cited by the publication, with the reduced output set to continue in April.
At the end of the day, context matters. An isolated fact ("Switch 2 is one of the (if not THE) fastest selling console of all time") sounds great until you consider the larger picture. Time of course will tell but something for you to think about.
Steam and Nintendo are two different beasts so comparing them is hard even if they both offer the same form factor device. A steam conversation may be worthy of discussion but the focus of this post is Nintendo.
My guess is C1S are still doing 50 back pretty consistently and 100 back every couple weeks.
Definitely don't recommend adding their extension though to any browser. Huge invasion of privacy.
