Yes, but you might have to get low on the ground.

If they're dead & bristle just snap the dead branches off.

If you've never used a chainsaw: don't hit the dirt & don't force the chain to cut thru. If you're cutting close or below the ground level use a sawzall; blades are cheaper than a chainsaw.

Or get this gas chainsaw instead:

If you use a sawzall, get a pruning blade. Diablo makes a couple and BOY HOWDY they are great at removing boxwoods and small trees. Regular blades work fine I'm sure but the pruning blades make it go very quickly. I'm in for this chainsaw though. Had a crumbo seesii handheld chainsaw and it was very good at blasting bigger branches and brush. Rode it a lil too hard and it now it's unsafe to use.

I got this on HD hack but paid like $119. I guess this with shipping will be about the same. I like this saw very much. Cut down several trees with it already. Will handle jobs bigger than most people need. Cutting big trees and cords of firewood is too much but get a bigger corded for those things.
About the hack of getting a sale package from Home Depot they have made that harder. Long ago you could get the one item nearly free by returning the full priced item. I didn't do that myself. Then they started putting a discount % on each item after its in your cart even if the add says "free" something. The hack was to receive only one item. I noted they make that hard because the website only lets you do the same method for both to avoid people not taking the second one. I got lucky mine was in stock to pickup then weeks later the item I didn't want arrived to store and I didn't pick it up. I was left with the sale priced item I got. People have noted trying to return half the sale packaged items is a YMMV at the store now. The hack to get half the items is big YMMV

I just used the 20$ saw from amazon that's always here, get that. I had a bunch of dead branches, new trees in bad places and weeds that were tall. That thing breezed right through all of it. Two batteries are included.

I can see this thing in a horror flick for real, right thru your leg, arm, head, neck, fingers, toes.. like a hot knife in butter.

I have a cheap Amazon saw that I got free for writing a review. It's a piece of crap especially compared to this DeWalt. I'm happy I bought this one. It's surprisingly capable for 20V. I keep it handy when running my wood chipper. Just ordered an Oregon chain for it for around $9.
