Lavazza Espresso medium roast is a budget-friendly whole bean coffee that works well in many superautomatic machines and is often described as not oily. The beans can be fresh when the roast date is recent, and the price drops sharply with the coupon and Subscribe and Save combo. The main knocks are that freshness can be hit or miss on Amazon, and the flavor is often described as bland, boring, or lacking a sweet finish. A practical pick if you want an inexpensive everyday bean and do not need a bold cup.

  • People who dislike oily beans, because these beans can be oily enough to matter in some machines.

  • Drinkers who want a bold, full-flavored cup, because it can taste bland, boring, or lacking a sweet finish.

  • People using a fully automatic grinder that clogs easily, because these beans can trigger reruns, over-grinding, and blockage.

  • Coffee buyers who care about consistent freshness, because roast date quality can be hit or miss when ordering online.

We all have different tastes which is a fact. I found Perfetto not good, and this Espresso 5/10 the only lavazza I like. I even don't really like Super Crema much either

Anyone know how oily these beans are?

My fully automatic tends to get clogged and waste some kinds of beans and it may be due to oil content
Not oily.

Thanks. Yeah, typically it is dark roasts that are more oily, is what I read. However my last 2 bags of "medium" Lavazza (different model though) had the same problem too.

I have a fully automatic Cuisinart EM-1000. Apparently many fully automatics have similar problems. But basically my machine thinks there's no beans and the grinder has to be rerun, which leads to it grinding too many beans and then clogging.

Typically if I get a bean kind that I have this problem with I'll either 1) grind it all up separately in my coffee grinder and use the coffee grounds directly in the machine (with the bypass chute) or I will just put enough beans in the hopper for my cup and let the grinder run 10x, which is when it gives up grinding and goes into brewing.
My brother has a Saco system... and swears by it. What he likes the most is the support on reddit.

wish the 30% coupon refreshed more often. Frown

edit: this and other "medium" lavazza beans work fine in my Delonghi and Philips Superautos.

Don't give me that different taste bullshit.

I have gone wine tasting eight different weekends in my life. And why is it the wine I find that tastes the best IS ALWAYS the most expensive.

You think sugar is not sweet for everyone?

Point is, your taste is not far off from everyone's.

Tell me, did you like beer the first time you tasted it?

This is what I can say... I got the breville Bambino and I did notice the taste of my coffee became more smooth over night. Even old crazy dark roast beens that I avoided seem to taste decent. I was doing a 8oz pull... now I do a 4oz pull and add 4oz of water.

These are good beans. It's just hit or miss how fresh they are from the roasted date when ordering on Amazon. And I don't mean the exp date stamped on the bag.

Aromatic? If it's not too stale. Sweet finish? Nope.
I have this and can only use it for cold brew.

Oily but not the worst. I think I have used over 20lb of this stuff in my Fully Auto and never had any problems.

This is a great price hard to resist, and I ordered it the last time there was a SD sale like this several months ago on it.

HOWEVER, I found that the actual coffee was kind of bland in terms of flavor, even when I let it sit for 3 days (cold brew method). So when Costco put the Peets coffee beans on sale, I stocked up on it---enjoy the full-bodied taste so much more and that's just with a normal 24 hour brew time!

PS. Supposedly, medium roast beans have significantly more caffeine than dark roast (Peet's) but I honestly don't notice any difference in energy. Strange, because I've had the Mayorga medium roast beans from Costco, and didn't experience such a dismal blandness.
