Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition is a GTA style open world crime game that stands out for its strong story, lively city, and combat that rewards learning the mechanics instead of button mashing. It still holds up as an enjoyable playthrough, and the current price around $3 makes it feel like a solid value. The main drawback is age, with graphics and gameplay described as dated. It also runs well on Steam Deck OLED and works on the Ayn Thor through GameNative, making it a handy pick for portable play.

  • Players who bounced off GTA-style games, because this one can feel more engaging and less boring than that formula.

  • Handheld PC players, because it runs well on the Steam Deck OLED and can be made to work on the Ayn Thor with GameNative.

    ekahunatool2269

  • Players who want a story-driven open-world crime game, because the combat rewards learning the mechanics instead of button mashing and the city feels alive.

    RobbyC4448

  • Controller players, because combat combo moves can be easier to execute than with keyboard and mouse.

  • Players who want modern visuals and mechanics, because the game feels dated in both graphics and gameplay.

Sleeping Dogs aka True Crime Streets of Hong Kong , wish they'd carried this franchise on, Sleeping Dogs is amazing and nobody talks about it

The fact we aren't 5 games deep into this franchise is quite unfortunate.

This game has been on a lot of "underrated" lists and I finally got around to playing it last year. It was great! It still holds up well today and is an enjoyable playthrough.

Which would you recommend for this game -- keyboard & mouse or a PS4 controller?

I'm typically a keyboard & mouse gamer but I liked using a controller for this game. I haven't played this in a long time but I think there are combat combo moves so it's easier to play with a controller.

Replayed this game to do all the achievements but I missed the one where you smack someone with a fish at the club! Oof.
