Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition is a GTA style open world crime game that stands out for its strong story, lively city, and combat that rewards learning the mechanics instead of button mashing. It still holds up as an enjoyable playthrough, and the current price around $3 makes it feel like a solid value. The main drawback is age, with graphics and gameplay described as dated. It also runs well on Steam Deck OLED and works on the Ayn Thor through GameNative, making it a handy pick for portable play.
Players who bounced off GTA-style games, because this one can feel more engaging and less boring than that formula.
Handheld PC players, because it runs well on the Steam Deck OLED and can be made to work on the Ayn Thor with GameNative.
Players who want a story-driven open-world crime game, because the combat rewards learning the mechanics instead of button mashing and the city feels alive.
Controller players, because combat combo moves can be easier to execute than with keyboard and mouse.
Players who want modern visuals and mechanics, because the game feels dated in both graphics and gameplay.
