This Vizio 5.1 soundbar is aimed at home theater sound, with strong Atmos performance for action movies and a fuller upgrade over TV speakers. The older version is described as great for years, and one setup has stayed solid with only a single connection issue. The main drawbacks are the app only control and missing remote, which limit functions like direct mode and have been tied to disconnects and other app problems. It looks best for buyers who want immersive movie sound and can live with app based control.

The soundbar can work well for action movies with Dolby Atmos effects.

Common Questions (5)

The AX700 has been reported as trouble-free and a good fit for an apartment living room setup. The VIZIO side has both solid long-term experiences and reports of app and connection problems, so the AX700 is the safer pick if you want fewer hassles.

No remote is included, and the soundbar is app-controlled by default. That matters because some functions, like switching to direct mode, may require an IR remote even though the app shows the setting.

Some units have been solid with only an occasional connection issue, especially when connected via eARC. Others have had repeated disconnects and returned the soundbar after ongoing problems.
AquaCatfish539 DaShaka NavyDolphin310
It can sound very good for action movies and Dolby Atmos, with a theater-like effect. Voice clarity is a weaker point unless you use a soundbar with dedicated voice speakers.
NavyDolphin310
Yes, it is reportedly compatible with other VIZIO soundbar remotes. That can help because the app removes some device controls and does not provide every function directly.

Vizio must have went down hill since Walmart bought it.

Doesn't come with a remote, it's app controlled. That's a negative

I've used my soundbar remote maybe 5 times in about 5 years. They're e-waste and it makes perfect sense to leverage existing controls as their primary means of control.

Is the volume not controlled by the TV remote since using eARC?
