I've had good luck with cafiza powder to clean my similar Breville. Just put a little powder in and let it soak then use a quick brush or sponge (single pass). Does a great job with the stains in the carafe.

Sick of looking at my 14 cup Cuisinart. CR rated 70. Thermo carafes are supposedly better than hot plates. Is it a bastard to clean?
I've had this for 5 years now, the carafe does a good job at keeping coffee at a pleasantly hot temp for quite a while without affecting the flavor the way a hotplate could. The interior of the carafe does stain over time, especially if you're not washing it right away every day. But a dishwasher detergent + hot water soak gets it cleaned up well (though it does take a lot of rinsing to make sure the detergent taste doesn't linger).

That's a good tip. Yeah, I've been meaning to look into dedicated coffee cleaners that won't leave an aftertaste. But dishwasher pods are so convenient and effective at cleaning that I haven't gotten around to it yet, lol

I don't spend a lot of time looking at the interior of my 13 year-old carafe that has never been in a dishwasher (edit: not this one), but I soak it in boiling water + washing soda a few times a year while the machine is soaking with citric acid, and it comes out pretty shiny after a little wipe with a holy sock on a wooden spoon.
For anybody else who wanted to simply see this in the post instead of clicking on the link or trying to recall which cup size is en vogue: 9 cups = 45 oz.

It is a bitch to clean the inside of the steel carafe. You have to soak it in solution, or you'll be wasting your time with soap. Get a scrub brush, long handle, and mix 1/2 cup of hydrogen peroxide with 2 tablespoons of baking soda. Let it sit for a few hours. Then scrub it.
Same experience as others - have used daily for years. I remember when we first switched to this from a cheaper machine and the same exact coffee grounds produced a noticeably better tasting coffee
I'll join the chorus and say that I have this one and it's pretty great. It makes a very good cup of coffee and the carafe will hold the temp for a decent amount of time.
I had this device and used daily for a few years until it gave an internal error that could not be resolved (red ring of death). I then bought the most simple coffee machine I could that makes the best coffee, a moccamaster, and have not had any issues with that. When this machine was working it produced good coffee.
