Domino's 50 percent off menu-priced pizzas is mainly a way to get a fresh, customizable pie with more topping choices and nearby stores, and the XL New York style gets a nod for its size. The deal can still land around $8 to $11 for a large, with specialty pizzas and stuffed crust drawing praise for value and filling portions. Garlic parm sauce, well done baking, and extra sauce are recurring favorites. The main caveat is that pricing, fees, and participation vary by location, and some orders can lose value once delivery or minimum order charges appear.

  • The deal applies to the pizza portion only, which can help shoppers avoid overpaying on non-pizza items.

  • Carryout pickup can reduce costs by avoiding delivery fees during the promotion window.

  • Domino's XL New York style pizza can be 30% larger than a 14-inch pizza by size math.

  • Some specialty pizzas appear to be included in the 50% off offer at around $10 to $10.50 in tested pricing.

  • Domino's pizza quality can be salty and onions can come in smaller standard portions, which can reduce satisfaction even with discounts.

  • Online checkout can add minimum order fees and delivery fees that can erase the sale savings.

  • Store pickup may not honor the special price, with at least one Southern California location limiting the deal to online.

  • Deal pricing can vary by area, and the special price may not match the lower amount expected.

If you're not looking for a Specialty pizza, aka Supreme, Hawaiian, etc. On their deals page they have 1 Large 3 Topping Pizza – Carryout Only, for 9.99. This is less than I could make a 2 topping purchase with this 50% off deal.
I just tested and can get their spicy chicken bbq or what ever it is for $10.50. So yes it's more than your 3 item deal you list but I'm just pointing out that the specialty pizzas appear to be part of this deal. My personal opinion is that $10.50 or $10 is a pretty reasonable amount for a pizza that you don't have to make that will feed two kids or two adults, at least. But what do I know, I make 80% of our food at home and whether it costs more or less than eating out, I like my food better.

Your math is sound. In a Federal minimum wage state ($7.25/hr.), you would be just shy of a pizza being unaffordable by $0.275 ($10.875). If you are doing this in CA, you are getting it for a steal.
