I've been eyeing this laptop since it released. This is the first time I've seen the 2026 model go on sale. Last year's model was only 24GB ram, this year is 32GB (not upgradeable). Seems like a solid deal for a decent productivity laptop with an OLED screen.

The ASUS Zenbook S16 (32GB) is an ultra-slim, AI-powered premium laptop that combines a high-tech ceramic-aluminum design with elite performance. It is geared toward professionals, content creators, and users seeking maximum productivity.Key features and specificationsStick Out Tonguerocessor & AI: Powered by the AMD Ryzen AI 9 series processors (e.g., the 365 or 465) with a built-in Neural Processing Unit (NPU) delivering up to 50 TOPS to handle local AI tasks.Memory & Storage: Features 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM (soldered, non-upgradeable) and up to 2TB of fast NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD storage.Display: A stunning 16-inch 3K (2880 x 1800) OLED 120Hz touchscreen that is PANTONE validated with vibrant colors and deep blacks.Design & Build: Measures just 0.51-inches (about 1.1–1.2 cm) thin and is crafted from Ceraluminum—a durable, scratch-resistant, ceramic-like aluminum material.Battery & Audio: Equipped with a large 83Wh battery and a premium six-speaker Harman Kardon sound system with Dolby Atmos.Ports: Includes two USB4 Type-C (up to 40Gbps), one USB 3.2 Type-A, an HDMI 2.1 port, and an SD 4.0 card reader.

Any thoughts on this? The setup looks pretty sweet.

Also, how does this compare to Costco HP EliteBook X G1i 14" AI Laptop - Intel Core Ultra 7 258V - Copilot+ PC - WUXGA LED Touchscreen - 32GB Memory - 1TB SSD - Windows 11 Home?

I picked it up for $1k and I haven't even set it up yet. Not sure which way to go...mainly for work and will be sticking it in a backpack for some travel

I bought it today, and still just setting it up. The screen is gorgeous. 16" vs 14". OLED vs LED. I think the AMD chipset will be quite more powerful but efficient. It's also impossibly light for a 16" laptop, just 3.3lbs, but doesn't feel flimsy. Can also lift the screen up with 1 hand, the hinge feels perfect. The aluminum on the lid is very unique, haven't seen anything like it. Definitely won't show any type of fingerprints. So far so good. Thought I'd be disappointed with the color as I really wanted the white, but love the slate look, and the keyboard lights are much more defined on the darker keys.

Appreciate the detailed reply. After much back and forth, I'm going to stick with my guy. There is no doubt this machine is nicer overall, but for my needs my little guy does a terrific job. I will set it up and play around with it for a little bit. If something feels off, this is the way to go!On another note, did you do a clean install? I'm debating if I should go the purist route or just delete a few apps

I think Costco's HP OmniBook 7 Flip 16" 2-in-1, Costco item 1945458, is more apt comparison.
  • AMD Ryzen AI 400 Series vs Intel Core Ultra 7 258V
  • 16" OLED vs 16" OLED, 2880 x 1800 vs 2880 x 1800
  • 32 GB RAM vs 32 GB, 1 TB SSD vs 1 TB
  • 3.42 lbs vs 3.95 lbs
  • $1,549 vs $999

I got the 24gb version of this, there are many things to like: centered trackpad, and keyboard without numeric keys (which would just skew everything to the left and cause wrist pain, in my experience), beautiful screen, fast processor, beautiful look, very lightweight, long lasting battery. The only thing I'd change is that the touchpad is not haptic (it's hard to go back once you've gone haptic).

P.s. runs Fedora nicely
