Mechanics said they like the stack and keeps one in their trucks.
Non-mechanics said there are "too many."
If you don't, don't know, don't need to. don't want to fix anything, 1 bit is too many bit. Just last week I have used a T20, T25, T30, and Hex 1.5.
If you don't already have a good set, this save you multiple trips to harbor freight for deep sockets, extensions, security bits, or etc... Every trip to harbor freight adds up. You will ended up spending more than $100 for less and without a nice organizer.
The box is nice enough--preferable to blowmolded. It is compatible with other versastack/tradestack stuff. The drawer trays can be removed.
Because it is not blowmolded, it actually has extra space in it. If you want to buy a longer extension or throw a few extra/specialty sockets into it, they will fit. They won't have a labelled spot, but there's room to toss a few triple-square or whatever in the box and they won't move too far.
Might even be able to squeeze in a small pliers or adjustable wrench or too--makes it far more versatile if you are going to keep it in a car or something. It even has some open spots set aside for dropping nuts and bolts while you are working on something.
Downsides? For some dumb reason, the 1/2" sockets are all 12-point. Would really prefer 6-point here. You also don't get very many 1/2" sockets. But maybe that's OK--for the big stuck fasteners you might be picking up a set of 6-point impact sockets and using an impact wrench anyways.
Yes, the piece count is inflated by bits and allen keys, but it is a decent selection of stuff you might need if using this as a single tool kit in a car or something (and with 242 pieces, you still get a pretty solid assortment of 1/4 and 3/8 deep and regular sockets...it is not like a 100 piece set where half of it is filler so you are missing a bunch of sockets).
Other downside in my eyes is that it has to split the parts count between SAE and Metric. Nice to have both if you want to own one tool set and cover everything...but if you want something to keep in your car, that means half the tools are useless.
