Wow the prices have really gone up ... I bought one for $980 Open Box from best buy last year in Oct. Pretty much brand new in the box. and new would have been $1199. Great laptop for the price. It has a plastic body with an aluminum lid, but it's built solid and feels good to use. Battery life still holds up and the screen is pretty bright plus it's a matte finish which I like. If you disable the nvidia gpu via the mux switch in the bios - it easily gives you 12-14 hours of battery using the onboard GPU.
