One of my unit out of the 4 went bad - would keep losing connection to wifi and need pairing every few hours, basically unusable. I reached out to kasa support and after a few emails around order details, images of serial no on the actual product and images of the unit around all six sides, video of the issue etc, they finally shared their weird warranty replacement process steps:
- the entire set of 4 units must be sent back
- i have to mandatorily share a payment card (credit or debit) as a colateral and kasa would charge me for shipping/replacement if my claims were found wrong by them
- they will only send the replacement once i complete the previous two steps
The entire thing sounded ridicilous and in a way, kasa was already putting all the blame on me. I never went through with ithe replacement (because i did not had all 4 units with me, it was a split between me and my old roommate and he had the other 2 units and had left) but i am not going to try anything again from kasa because of this ordeal.
