It's laughable that Amazon is offering this silly Audible Standard Membership only to Prime members. In reality, the standard membership is so useless it SHOULD already be a built-in part on their completely overpriced Amazon Prime Membership.

i see your point but now i wont qualify for a decent offer if it materializes and ive been ignoring a 1 month with a permanent credit free offer for a while that wouldve been better for me. not a biggie overall other than the feeling i was "outwitted" :-)

Actually he's screwed if another trial comes up for the Premium service.

iirc, you must have not been an Audible customer for the prior 3 months to qualify for a trial deal.

As mentioned the "standard" plan should just be included with prime if it's so basic. What are we paying for anymore?

Unfortunately a lot of audiobooks are going to Audible Only. Project Hail Mary for instance.
Yeah this isn't true. I just checked Libby and Project Hail Mary is available from my library

I signed up for this not knowing you can only access the book for a month. I do need motivation to read errr listen to books more so perhaps there's a silver lining to this.

I agree with earlier comments to check Libby availability first. For my library, they only offer the Spanish audiobook of Project Hail Mary for some reason so I used my credit on that.

FYI if you have a library card you can check out all the audiobooks you want from your local library using the Libby app.
I use the library for many years and at least 20% of the CD collection are damage to a certain degree that some disc aren't playable. I got too frustrated and stop borrowing. The digital check out is better but I guess the people around me are avid readers so they are often not available.

I had this audible plan for the last 3 months (earlier $.99/mo promo). After cancelling I was offered $7.49/mo for 3 months of the proper Premium Plus plan to stay.
I use Libby and Hoopla with my library card, but if you are satisfied with not keeping the books don't sleep on Spotify as an option (especially if you can get a free trial). They had half the books from my Audible wishlist. You get 15 hours of audiobook listening time per month included with the Spotify Premium subscription. After running out of free trials/deals for music services I purchased a one year Spotify gift card from Best Buy for $99. That comes out to $8.34/mo for music and 15 hours of audiobook listening. There are some longer free trials of Spotify Premium floating around, but in the fine print you are disqualified if you received an introductory or welcome back price in the past two years.

Not sure if this is allowed but for those interested in keeping your books after cancelling your membership (or keeping titles that are included for "free" with the premium membership), take a look at Libation. It allows you to download your current library for offline (and post-membership) listening.

I'm on a Standard plan after many years on Premium. Honestly, it's not so bad. I have such a gigantic library but I only really have time to listen to one new book at a time. With Standard I consume the books I'm interested in knowing that they will disappear eventually. I own plenty of books that I have no desire to listen to again.

Yes, the standard plan is not as good and you lose your credits. If you're a prime member you get 3 free audiobooks to read in 3 months. Not as good as 3 months of premium pus, but free! If you have Amazon Music you also get to borrow an audiobook each month that you don't get to keep, same principal. I do it every month and listen to one book. Thanks for posting.
