The difference is that "Premium Plus" gives you 1 credit a month to use on any audiobook and you will 'keep' it unlock in your library, even if you cancel the membership later. "Standard" lets you 'select' one audiobook per month, and you can ONLY listen to it IF you maintain a membership. If you don't have a membership, then you can't listen to any books you got under "Standard."
I usually get the (what is now) Premium Plus level, but Audible changed their membership levels/options some time ago and I didn't look carefully and signed up for the Standard tier. Fooled me once, Audible...

OP needs to put "YMMV", "some Prime members", or "eligible Prime members".

Can you show a source where this has changed?

I agree with earlier comments to check Libby availability first. For my library, they only offer the Spanish audiobook of Project Hail Mary for some reason so I used my credit on that.
There are other books you can only listen to as a member but the ones you buy with a credit are yours to keep and listen to forever.
Mods need to get on this thread and delete all the wrong info replies.
What is a monthly audiobook selection or monthly title?
Monthly audiobook selections are any title you select as part of your Audible Standard membership benefit. With Audible Standard membership, you can select 1 audiobook a month and grow your Library collection over time.
Monthly audiobook selections are available in your Library until you cancel. Once you cancel, you will no longer have access to titles you selected with this membership.

Hope that helps. I clarified in my original post the differences between the "Standard" plan, which is what this offer is, and the "Premium Plus" plan, which is what many of us long-term Audible deal seekers are used to. Please take time to read and understand before throwing false accusations of "wrong info."
You might have a special offer/pricing, mate. For example, Audible is offering me 3 months of Premium Plus for $6.99/mo right now. I haven't signed up yet due to my backlog, while hoping for the $1/mo for 3 months for Premium Plus comes back one day.
