Never done woodworking before... is this a good tool to get started?
Depends what youre looking to do, but yes, a circular saw is a standard piece to get and is versatile. Don't expect to have fun building cabinets with it or anything, but…
it's a low end battery saw. And only 5". I think it will bog down.Just get a corded 7.25" on FB marketplace.
This would probably be fine for cutting thin sheet goods, I would be skeptical of how it would hold up over time in stuff like 3/4" plywood. If you want into the ryobi batteries it might be an ok deal for a first pack.

If you're getting a first circular saw (the question about the tool after all) it at least has to cut 2x effortlessly. But yeah separately I personally am interested in the battery arbitrage and what's the cheapest way to get a One+ battery of any AH duration. I just have one spare drill that needs a battery… all my other tools are dewalt ecosystem.
