This 20 inch Perfect Aire box fan stands out as a strong air mover for the price, with even low speed pushing a surprising amount of air. It is also being used for white noise and DIY air filter setups, including Corsi Rosenthal builds and HVAC filter attachments. The metal construction gets credit for holding up better than plastic fans in long daily use, though it is louder than many fans and may not be strong enough for every filter setup. A solid budget pick for circulation or simple filtration projects.
Common Questions (5)
Yes, it can be attached to HVAC filters to make a DIY air filter or Corsi-Rosenthal-style setup. The filter should go on the air intake side only, and a less restrictive filter such as MERV 5 is recommended to reduce strain.
Yes. It is described as worth the price and as the lowest box-fan price seen in a while. It also undercuts similar Hurricane box fans that were mentioned at about $35-$40.
Yes. Even on low speed, it reportedly blows surprisingly hard and moves more air than a Lasko box fan. That makes it a strong choice if you want maximum airflow for cooling or circulation.
Yes. For a Corsi-Rosenthal or similar filter build, it should be tested early to make sure the airflow is strong enough before the return window closes. Some box fans may be too weak or may strain the motor when a filter is mounted directly on the intake.
It can handle near-continuous use better than plastic box fans, which can start chipping and falling apart after a few months. It is louder than many fans, but that noise can be easy to get used to if you want constant airflow or white noise.
