This 9 foot push tilt patio umbrella is mainly a budget shade option that feels decent for the price, with a sturdy look and a simple setup for pool decks or weighted stands. The fabric is repeatedly described as thin, and the crank mechanism can feel cheap. Rain can bleed through, and fading or wear over time is a concern, so treating it with a water repellent may help. It comes across as a practical short term patio umbrella rather than a heavy duty one.

  • Patio owners who want a cheap shade umbrella for occasional use, because it feels sturdy enough and has exceeded expectations at this price.

  • Shoppers willing to treat outdoor fabric for sun and water resistance, because the canopy can fade and benefits from protective spray.

  • Backyard setups that already use a weighted base or deck mount, because the umbrella needs extra support instead of being pushed in alone.

Don't forget to treat them with Scotch Guard or a heavy tent water repellent. I spray all my outdoor umbrellas a couple of times a year to help with Sun fading and rot from water (water beads off)
would clear leak ender be overkill?

$37 at Home Depot and you get a 12 month manufacturer warranty, vs Woody's 90 days. Seems worth the $7 extra for a little more peace of mind.

Can you share what stand you use it with, and the cost? And do people close these up and leave them outside, or bring them in to prevent damage/fading?
I have these. Bought them on clearance for a $1 a couple years back.

They also have this cheaper one. But it claims 7.5 ft umbrellas.

Yeah I got mine and I was disappointed that the rain bled right through it. Will the Scotch Guard make it waterproof?
Not 100% waterproof but it will add a solid layer of weather/UV/water resistance that will protect the material for a while. I have used Kiwi (heavy duty) "Camp Dry" and also Nikwax Tent & Gear Solarproof to good effect. If you use Nikwax keep in mind it doesn't spray on "invisible" and you will want to wipe it down if you don't want the (white) liquid spots to stay visible from spraying.
