Serengeti Masten wrap sunglasses stand out for their glass lenses, polarized photochromic driving lens, and made in Italy build at a steep discount. The lenses are praised for looking great, handling late-day glare, and staying fairly light and comfortable compared with older Serengeti pairs. Eyedictive is described as a legitimate source for authentic overstock and past-season models. The main cautions are that the photochromic effect can be subtle or seem absent, some pairs feel heavy or leave nose marks, and a few reports raise durability concerns with hinges, coating wear, or frame creaks.

Common Questions (5)

  • The Masten is described as fairly light and more comfortable than older Serengeti aviators, but some wrap models feel heavy and can leave hard nose imprints. Fit and nose-pad adjustment can affect comfort, and the frame may still feel substantial compared with nylon-frame alternatives.

  • The lenses are polarized, but the photochromic effect can be very subtle and may be hard to notice in normal use. A UV light test can make the darkening obvious, while some pairs reportedly show little or no darkening at all.

  • The glass lenses are praised for clarity and the frames are described as durable, but one long-term owner reported lens coating wear after about four years and another reported a hinge failure after limited use. That makes the build appealing, but not immune to wear or hardware problems.

  • Eyedictive is described as an authentic flash-sale eyewear retailer sourcing from authorized distributors and selling overstock or past-season models. That said, warranty support may be an issue if Serengeti treats Eyedictive as a non-authorized reseller.

  • They may not darken much behind a windshield with UV-blocking tint because the lenses react to UV light. They can still be useful for late-day glare and some rainy conditions when sunlight is present.

I agree that they're a bit on the heavy side, but after the nylon-frame Maui Jims, it feels refreshing to have something with that doesn't feel so cheap.
For sure, very durable and it was hard to return them since i absolutely love the lenses. I ordered both of the models, the anzio were just not the best look for me and the Tulsa was the one i really wanted to keep, but man they were leaving hard imprints on my nose and i couldn't disregard the feeling of them while wearing. So after 3 days i had to return.

Regarding the nose imprints, that could be an issue with both fit and/or the nose pads themselves. You could ask them to adjust the frame arms and nose pad position to spread the weight more evenly. For the nose pads, I like replacing hard plastic nose pads with soft silicone air bag nose pads you can find on places like ebay. I've done with all my rx glasses and don't get nose marks any more.

Yeah i bent those outward too to spread them out and it helped a little but not much. The pads were silicone as well.

Very good deal with the coupon! I've bought a couple sunglasses over the last few years and this retailer is great. I got the Masten at $69, w/ glass lenses. It sold out quickly the last time.
According to Co-Pilot: 🧐 Is Eyedictive legit?
From the page:
  • "100% authentic and sourced directly from authorized distributors"
  • 70,000+ verified reviews
  • Top Quality Store on Google
Eyedictive is a well‑known flash‑sale eyewear retailer. They specialize in overstock and past‑season models, which is why prices are so low.
They are not an unauthorized gray‑market seller—they're reputable in the eyewear community.
I bought from them a few times. It's legit

I have a pair of Serengetis that were advertised as photochromic, but absolutely no changes happen regardless of amount of light. So it might be false advertising.

I've got Carrara from this site last year and absolutely ❤️ it.
I was waiting forever for another sale for anything from Serengeti with real glass. Just got Masten Drivers.
Carrara and Persol mcqueen are my favorites.

Was looking for some good sunglasses and was really close to taking the plunge on some Randolph's.

After reading this thread (thank you, everyone!), I'm going to give the Masten Drivers a go.

So, if you have the legal UV blocking window tent on the windshield of your car (where legal) that makes these not darken right? They react to UV light, and if your tint is blocking most of it...

I love Serengeti's. They've been my daily driver for years. They photochromic lenses allow them to still be used near sunset when the sun is right in your eyes. I've also found them useful during certain rainy spells where the sun is present, but maybe blocked by clouds.

That being said, glass lenses to pose an inherent risk as driving glasses due to glass lenses. In the deployment of an airbag, there is a higher chance of the lense breaking and ending up in your eye. I still wear mine though, and know I'm taking the risk into my own hands.
