It doesn't matter where you buy your drone from in the US, you won't exactly get a DJI OEM warranty. Instead, buy a 3rd party service plan or insurance coverage.
DJI seems to make the best featured drones but I don't trust anything that can be cut off via cloud. Does anybody have any recommendations for a non cloud drone?
Ideally this would be used for surveying areas from above (scouting out my neighborhood mostly, especially if there's stuff like a fire engine going on down the road, nothing creepy) and maybe some minimal action shots or close up vlog/selfie style shots as a secondary function.
This drone doesn't rely on the "cloud" to fly and you can fly it without ever connecting to the internet. Every once in awhile you may be asked to connect the remote to the internet and reverify your DJI account login. Otherwise, like any other piece of electronic, there are numerous way to disable it; no electronics of any type these days is completely invulnerable to getting "cut off."

Well yes, that's what I meant. I don't want to be locked out if DJI's servers ever go offline. I don't want to be forced to go online to periodically reverify. I don't like that they can remote brick it if they like.
If you meant there's a way to disable that and keep it completely cut off from DJI's servers (while still being able to apply updates, etc...) then I'm all ears.

being that this is a drone and it's from a Chinese company (the exact issue us.gov has a problem with them) I don't believe there is a widely known method available to completely block them or stop them from bricking/controlling your drone if they really wanted to.
just like there is no way to completely cut off Apple from their iPhone.
or any computer or smart device; it's 2026 unfortunately these things don't exist any longer for anything other than a basic piece of electronics.
