If you have Hoopla through your library, I just checked and the complete run of most of these are on there, so if you buy these random vols 2 or 4 you can read what came before and after. Or you could just borrow them all.

This Kindle Marvel comics sale is strongest for grabbing classic X Men and other big runs at low prices, especially if you want to read them on a Kindle app or iPad. The 4 issue Chris Claremont and Frank Miller Wolverine run is framed as a famous, mostly self contained story, and All New X Men is praised for its 1970s and 1980s callbacks. Old Man Logan gets singled out as incredible, while Secret Wars and Marvel Zombies are also included. Hoopla and Comixology Unlimited may cover many of these titles, though some collections are incomplete or split across single volumes.

Common Questions (5)

  • Many of the listed titles appear to be included with Kindle Unlimited, but some do not show as available under KU and may instead be part of Comixology Unlimited. If you already subscribe, it's worth checking the specific title before buying because availability differs by service.

    tribalnoiseDonWhiteside

  • Yes. Many of these runs are available through Hoopla via a library card, and the complete run of most titles can be read there, though some collections may be incomplete because of publishing rights. That makes Hoopla a strong way to fill in missing issues around random volumes like 2 or 4.

    Honchoadamhoolhorst

  • Adding a Kindle comic to your Amazon wishlist can reveal the percentage discount based on when you added it versus the current price. That can be useful because Amazon and CamelCamelCamel may not show the discount for digital books.

    chadlouis

  • Yes. The comics reportedly look great in the Kindle app on an iPad, making the digital editions a good fit for tablet reading.

    Daveismyhero

  • Yes. The series is described as a favorite, and prices under $3 are considered a deal compared with earlier purchases around $1.80-$2.20 a decade ago. Its flashbacks and references also line up well with classic 1970s and 1980s X-Men continuity.

Any must have (complete) story for Spider-Man, Hulk, Venom or Wolverine?
I'm not on top of these, and it's a pain in the butt to figure out what issue is in what, and what is duplicate and what has extra content.

Many if not all of these are part of the kindle unlimited subscription, which I see an offer for free 3-month subscription. Perfect for summer break.

If you don't already have it, the 4-issue run of Wolverine written by Chris Claremont and drawn by Frank Miller is pretty famous:

It of course led into a long-running solo Wolverine comic, but I feel like the thing is mostly self-contained and can be enjoyed on its own.

Nice. I saw those stories are also included in the Omnibus vol 1 with a lot of other stories.

I think the 2 best Marvel things are Ultimates 1 & 2 and the Brubaker Captain America Winter Soldier run. Also the Ennis Punisher MAX run.

Kraven's Last Hunt is one of the best (if not the best) Spider-Man stories IMO if you haven't already read it ...

A lot of the Omnibus editions are 11.99, is that the usual Kindle price for them or is that a sale price?

Seems like they're part of COMIXOLOGY unlimited. I have KU (and find it a great value for how many things from it I read) but this doesn't show available for me so it seems to be distinct from KU.

They've got some other big name runs as well, like Marvel Zombies and Secret Wars.
It looks like they're single volumes, though, which is a bummer.
