Don't skimp on an oximeter. It'll lead to unnecessary ER visits especially when using it on an elderly.

This varies depending on the person and if they have any chronic medical issues. Mine's almost always 98 or 99, but that reading would be unlikely for a smoker with emphysema.

Most people who need to use this on a daily basis have been advised by their doctor to get one for home use due to an existing health condition affecting their blood oxygen level, so they can test at home and report back to their doctor and or know when to go to the ER.

Pulse oximeters are usually covered by insurance (if your doctor writes a prescription), though the markup by medical suppliers makes obtaining one that way not worth it unless you have 100% coverage for medical supplies. If buying out of pocket, I also recommend sites like Temu or Shein. They sell fingertip pulse oximeters for a few dollars and they're often identical to the ones sold on Amazon for at least 2X-3X the price.

That said, this is a good price, if you're not wasting $$ gas making a special trip to pick it up. But, skip the rebate, since a stamp will cost you more than you'd be getting back.
