This Gourmia 8 quart digital air fryer stands out for fast heating, a roomy basket, and the window and light that make it easier to check food without opening it. It reaches 450 degrees, cooks quickly, and the shorter body takes up less space than the older no window model. Cleanup is simple with a quick rinse, though the basket and tray design can be awkward to reinsert and some units have arrived dented. Rust, dishwasher wear, and occasional fan noise or uneven cooking are the main durability concerns, making it a practical replacement if those tradeoffs are acceptable.

  • The unit reaches up to 450°F, and 400°F can still be plenty for some cooking needs.

    tunaman4u2Poidawg

  • The air fryer can heat substantially faster, which can shorten overall cook times.

    NotRonSwanson

  • Cleaning can be quick because rinsing with water is usually sufficient and shelf removal is occasional.

    DavidDunne

  • The fryer can be used for years as a replacement, and it includes a window and light plus extra control options.

    softrider

  • The 1700W heating power may feel under-powered compared with other 8-qt models that run at 1800W.

    jenesaisquoi

  • The basket can rust along the bottom and edges if it is not dried thoroughly, and dishwasher use may accelerate degradation.

    KevoD

  • Some units arrive with defects such as a pre-dented screen, and the basket may be difficult to reinsert.

    junzilla

  • The window feature may be less useful, and the fan noise and uneven cooking have been concerns on prior Gourmia models.

For what's it's worth, after doing the recommended "burnout" outside, I seasoned the tray, window, and basket with flaxseed oil (you can also use another oil that can tolerate high temps, such as avocado or canola). I also use parchment paper and a silicone pad to prevent a buildup of burnt oil on the fryer tray. Our original Gourmia air fryer from Costco finally bit the dust after several years of heavy usage. This one has been a worthy replacement with only a few minor quirks compared to our old air fryer -- the ding is too low to hear if we aren't nearby and the new tray requires us to place a raised pad under it to accommodate the redesigned tray. Otherwise appreciate the larger tray, window, light, and some of the additional options on the control panel.

How easy to clean is it? Are there annoying gaps near the door/drawer where small food pieces could fall in and make it impossible to clean? Our current Sur La Table one suffers immensely from this flaw lol
I've now returned 3 of these over the last 3 years. They end up rusting a lot along the bottom and edges of the basket if you do not dry them super thoroughly. It's supposed to be dishwasher friendly but it degrades pretty quickly if put through the dishwasher (both rust and the plexiglass cracks). I finally gave up on these and got the ninja one this week.

Seems like I'm the only one that hates it. It is cheap, came pre-dented on the screen. The basket isn't easy to put back. Sometimes it doesn't turn off when you take the basket out. The metal-colored extender is angled so good just rolls off.

Also got the ninja and was wondering if I made the right choice reading the other comments in here but glad to hear some cons about the gourmet unit.

Nope, mine doesn't smell at all. My first one came with a dent but was an easy exchange and we've used it for about a year now without any issues.
