Community Reviews

Klipsch's RP-1600 is a large, high-output subwoofer aimed at home theater impact, with comments calling its bass effortless, wall-shaking, and especially strong for movies. The 16 inch driver and big cabinet are repeatedly framed as the main draw, and the sub is praised for delivering serious performance at a lower price than some competing options. The main cautions are price, since past sales around $1,000 are still the benchmark, and size, since proper placement can be tricky. Shipping damage and an amp failure after two months also raise durability concerns.

  • Movie fans wanting theater-level bass at home, because it delivers huge output that can make a room feel like a live event.

  • Bass enthusiasts chasing maximum slam, because the sub is described as loud enough to shake walls and outperform smaller sealed options on sheer impact.

  • Home theater owners with bass management, because the large driver size and effortless low-end suit big-screen impact.

  • Listeners who want a sub that can fill a large open living area, because it plays effortlessly and still feels right in a room opening into the kitchen.

  • Buyers who want automatic room correction to handle setup for them, because the controls are mostly set-and-forget and proper calibration still matters.

  • Anyone buying a refurb who wants low-risk ownership, because the refurb warranty is only 90 days and return shipping is on the buyer.

  • Shoppers who need a compact sub for a tight room, because the 24-by-27-inch footprint makes placement difficult.

  • People expecting a trouble-free long-term amp, because one unit failed after two months and the replacement process dragged on.

Bit the bullet and decided to buy it. Been wanting this sub for a while. I know it's been cheaper but just been wanting it so whatever. Well it's been three weeks, finally arrives and it's all damaged. Didn't even bother taking it off the truck.
That sucks. Mine shipped from only a 4 hour drive away. Arrived in great shape.

Feel like I need to update. I played mine for 2 months and was very happy with it. But then the amp failed. One of the speaker terminals on the board burned off.

Klipsch is going to send a replacement amp, and I've been waiting for 2 months for that to arrive while the sub sits silently. Now I cant get them to respond to my emails.

Im not able to call during their regular hours because I work then. I think I'll contact my credit card and see what they say.

Interesting, I have usually seen good reports about Klipsch customer service with these subwoofer failures. Maybe they are having supply chain issues. But the 1600 is the one RP model others have reported amp problems with.
