Klipsch's RP-1600 is a large, high-output subwoofer aimed at home theater impact, with comments calling its bass effortless, wall-shaking, and especially strong for movies. The 16 inch driver and big cabinet are repeatedly framed as the main draw, and the sub is praised for delivering serious performance at a lower price than some competing options. The main cautions are price, since past sales around $1,000 are still the benchmark, and size, since proper placement can be tricky. Shipping damage and an amp failure after two months also raise durability concerns.
Movie fans wanting theater-level bass at home, because it delivers huge output that can make a room feel like a live event.
Bass enthusiasts chasing maximum slam, because the sub is described as loud enough to shake walls and outperform smaller sealed options on sheer impact.
Listeners who want a sub that can fill a large open living area, because it plays effortlessly and still feels right in a room opening into the kitchen.
Buyers who want automatic room correction to handle setup for them, because the controls are mostly set-and-forget and proper calibration still matters.
The refurb RP-1600 has been listed around $1,119, but it comes with a 90-day warranty and returns can require you to pay shipping. Ground shipping can be free at checkout, yet the refurb price is close enough to new-deal pricing that many would rather buy new.
A return to the $1,000 price is possible but not something to count on soon. The sub was $1,000 multiple times last year, but recent comments note the older $900 sales are unlikely and that RP subs have been backordered with fewer exclusive sales lately.
The RP-1600 is the bigger, ported theater-style option, while the SB3000 Revolution is a sealed sub with Bluetooth control and auto EQ. For movie watching and maximum output, the Klipsch is favored for sheer driver size and impact; for a smaller footprint and more tuning features, the SVS is the alternative.
There are reports of damaged boxes on arrival and at least one amp failure after about two months, with a long wait for a replacement amp. It is worth inspecting the carton on delivery and being prepared for possible warranty follow-up.
Yes. Owners describe the sub as effortlessly powerful, with two 16-inch units said to "crack your walls," and one user said a single unit was enough for a living room that opens into a kitchen.
Well, it depends on expectations and preferences. If you're expecting/prefer your sub(s) sound to be louder than a festival or cause your whole house to fall apart for less, yes, this is probably the better choice. Then again they're 10",12",14" can easily do that for much less.If you expect/prefer a more accurate and detailed sound with very good impact, the SB 3000 Revolution are pretty incredible ime! Especially when you consider the fraction of the size footprint difference.Proper placement is crucial for optimal performance imo.The Revolution Series is a significant difference/step up over the prior model, that's impressive on its own.How they are able to offer that innovation at that price is a very pleasant surprise imo!FYI regarding the auto EQ, think of it like individual DLBC for your subwoofer(s).It's not a replacement but definitely a benefit, especially if you don't have it or don't want to go through the whole REW learning. You will hear the same complaints like you do regarding DLBC though.Running dual SB3000 Revolutions, I can tell you, everyone that has listened are shocked by the performance from that size subs. Especially since they often say I thought sealed are only good for music!
Hey man I've got the 3000 Revolution. Very happy with it. It's incredibly nice to dial in settings wirelessly and the auto EQ is a nice touch. This Klipsch is just made for a different purpose.
I got the 12" version it came with the box semi smashed a small dent on the back corner honestly if your not looking your not going to see it. Figured I paid for the extra insurance see what they will do it was Ai driven 2 mins later I have a code to buy another one and got to keep the other. Could not believe they did that I was honestly just looking to get a little off. They sound good, retail was 1000 each I got two for just over 500.
Now I just need them to put some ceiling atmos speaker on a big sale. I'd even take the magnat ones that they had on sale before.

Those are set forget it controls, you will that feature once or twice maximum. Your receiver should be doing that work anyway. Save money get a umik-1 and microphone stand and calibrate properly.
I was an SVS guy since way back when they first started. They used to be the value king who Sub killers who took on the big boys like Velodyne back in their day. Not anymore, so many new players in the Subwoofer game coming out with some super high performing Subs at amazing prices, example tonewinner, RSL speed woofer, Stark, Power Sound Audio. I recently picked up a massive 21" PSA Tv21neo-m subwoofer with a 1920 RMS, this slams, tight and goes deep, great with music and movies. I know this PSA sub is too big for most, but i made it work. My point, is go with the biggest size Subwoofer you can fit, nothing beats size and power, save your money some really good deals with these new players! SVS has great costumer service, they have good stuff but too expensive these days for what you get. The bigger the better is so true in subwoofers.

Actually there are people that make adjustments per their content they're listening to.All receivers "work"(RC) are not created equal. For instance, the popular Dirac Live, it doesn't actually correct your subwoofer(s). You would need their Bass Control RC for that. One major benefit is no longer needing REW,umik,MiniDSP.The SVS auto EQ works similar to Bass Control. Calibrating property starts with proper placement. This has a 24"x 27" footprint, proper placement can be a challenge.

I'm not sure I would agree.
There were other "value" IDs back then.
SVS were "valued" more for their quality.
They have never stopped with that quality & great innovation imo.
Are there other good options for less, of course just as there were back then.
Are they universally better, impossible to answer, WAY too many factors to consider.
I disagree bigger is always better.
If you can't/won't implement sub(s) properly you comprise quality.
Unfortunately many people nowadays have very little reference experience with quality LFE.
Often they rely on reading & are often bombarded with bigger is better, you can just make it work(ignoring the science).
Their new Revolution series are a great example on how they continue that great quality ime!

Not everyone uses a receiver. I've got active speakers with just a sub out.

The Klipsch RP-1600 can be a strong option when a receiver already provides bass management for subwoofer integration.
Refurbished RP-1600 purchases carry a 90-day warranty and require the buyer to pay shipping for returns.
Shipping handling can result in a damaged subwoofer on arrival, including cases where the box is badly impacted.
The $1299.99 price can be inflated versus prior $1000 sales, making the deal less attractive for inflation-adjusted comparisons.
An amp failure can occur after about two months, and replacement support can take weeks while the sub remains unusable.
