Fyi for first time baby gate buyers. This style has the bar that runs underneath the swinging door so it can be considered a trip hazard. It's not a deal breaker for some at this price point but just something to consider

Can attest that the bottom bar is a toddler trip hazard FrownFrown

This seems like a great deal. I ordered two to use outside to keep my little dog from getting into the backyard.

We have one of these and, I'll be honest, I hate it with a passion. The gate itself is far more narrow than any doorway or opening you want to put it in which creates an obstacle to get through if you are carrying anything. The bottom bar is a trip hazard. Not with every time you go through but at some point, it will be. If the hinge swung both ways, it would be far more convenient but it only opens one way which means a step back motion must be done from one side any time you go through (pretty typical of any gate though). Finally, these CAN be fairly secure but you will be putting dents in your doorframe to do it. The amount of force required to get it to set and secure is obnoxious and still didn't work with how much traffic we saw with our two little girls going in and out. If it slams closed over and over, it will loosen and shift.

The only gate I have had that I liked has been a model that mounted to the wall on one side of the opening and snapped closed on the other with locking mechanisms. I never even mounted the locking mechanism though and opted to add two rubberized, flat neodymium gun magnets where the gate bolts would normally go in the lock when closed. It worked perfectly. Dogs couldn't push it open. Children could but only once they were much older. Adults could easily pop out open and gently let it drift closed and simply "snap" into place once it came close to the magnets again. When open, it was nearly the full width of the opening which was needed for laundry and whatnot to go up and down the stairs.

Overall, I hate all gates but a lot of us need them regularly. We just bought a brand new home and have not put any gates back up yet except for an expanding plastic one on occasion to help keep the dogs downstairs but I hate those styles even more.

These are a real narrow opening. Us larger people have to turn sideways to get through!
