With the soft case it may be prone to breaking the hinge. I bought this a month ago and returned it unopened because of the hinge breaking.

This is confusing: do you mean the reports of others' hinge breaking deterred you from keeping them?

Or do you mean yours had already broke before use? EEK!

100% buy at this price. I've had mine a few years, love the look of them and still going strong.

I use them w iPhone but they are better w androids sadly. Obv be gentle with them and you won't have hinge issues

Can anyone compare these to the Bose Quiet Comfort Ultra?
Quiet Comfort Ultra replaced the Bose 700. I don't have experience with the Sony models, but others are saying the 700's are better than the XM5.

This is the best deal I have seen on Slickdeals in a long time.

Great headphones and I paid $300.

They are durable, I have taken these on at least 4 long haul flights a year, use them every other day or so for Zoom meetings, and sometimes use them to watch Netflix or something.

Very lightweight on the head, wired or wireless. They have 8 or so mics on them for great voice quality. ANC is very nice.

As well they support LDAC codec so you get fantastic sound quality. You do need to go in to your device and set it to LDAC, it comes set to the basic SBC so it will work with everything that doesn't support higher-end sound quality. Once you turn it on, you can easily hear the difference.

Of note, Apple products do not support many codecs, just the basic ones so you can take advantage of that, but still highly recommend even without that.

LDAC- is a high-resolution Bluetooth audio codec developed by Sony that transmits approximately three times more data than standard Bluetooth codecs like SBC. It supports audio quality up to 32-bit/96 kHz with a maximum bitrate of 990 kbps, making it a leading choice for Hi-Res Audio Wireless certification on Android devices (native since Android 8.0

I tested the 700 and the XM3. Sony EQ app allows you to change the sound significantly. Sony had the better clarity and wider soundstage with EQ adjusted: clear bass +4, NC off (NC boosts bass in a muddy way)

Are these worth the upgrade if I'm happy with my Sony Ult Wear headphones that I paid $60 for. Do these sound 3x better?

I wonder if these will drop lower? Anybody ever seen electronics clearance reach 40-50% off at Costco?
