The Sony Bravia 5 is a 65 inch 4K Mini LED TV that stands out for sports, streaming, and bright room viewing, with 120 hertz support and surprisingly good viewing angles. At around $600, it is described as a strong value for most homes, especially where OLED can struggle. The main caution is that brightness and processing are not top tier, and some comparisons favor the Bravia 7 or TCL QM8K at similar prices. In store availability is spotty, and display units may be missing the remote or full coverage.

  • The TV can work well for sports and streaming in a moderately bright living room.

  • The viewing angles are surprisingly good for this 65-inch Bravia 5 model.

  • The $600 price point is viewed as more reasonable for a 65-inch 4K Mini LED set.

  • The deal can be strong when a unit includes the box and remote rather than being display-only.

  • The picture can look washed out with non-existent contrast for some buyers.

  • Upscaling can be difficult to disable and may make images bigger and blurrier.

  • Some store inventory can be limited to a display model missing the remote, which reduces what you receive.

  • Costco's 5-year coverage may not apply to a display model that has been on the shelf.

I have this exact TV and am very satisfied with it for sports and streaming in a moderately bright living room. Though, if you are in a sunroom this model may not be bright enough. The viewing angles are surprising good. You will not find a 65" remotely this good for $600.

I checked the Newington, VA location and all that was left was the display model without its remote. Frown
You can buy a remote on Ebay for a Sony TV for $10-15( max)
Dont let that make you pass on a good deal on a TV you like

When I bought my LG 48"from there someone had stolen the remote from the box. I realized when I opened it. Costco concierge was able to connect me with LG and they sent me a new one.

$600 is a more reasonable price for this set. It's fine a very good tv for most users in fact. Nice for brighter rooms where OLED may have issues.

7.1 mixed usage .
Also wanted to point out this is the new Rtings 2.2 testing method. They lowered the scores across the board quite a bit, so a 7.1 now is great relatively speaking. Personally, not a fan of the new scoring.

Copy pasted the below.
This is basically a TCL tv which is why you see this regular price. This is not a deal. Sony is dead, no more home entertainment from Sony.

------
In early 2026, Sony officially signed a deal to spin off its home entertainment business and form a joint venture called Bravia Inc. with the Chinese electronics giant TCL.
Sigh reading comprehension and logic is dead. This 2025 made TV is one of the last panels manufactured by Sony since they're licensing out the brand to TCL. A deal was struck early 2026 do you think manufacturing and licensing transition gets completed and backdated in 6 months?

Yes, confirming that you are correct. The TCL made Bravia will be in the market in 2027

Even then

The Bravia 5 is not a top tier set by any stretch
As I mentioned before..much of the year the Sony Bravia 5 and the TCL UM8K were almost the same price despite the TCL vastly outperforming the Sony in many metrics

TCL was Sony's lifeline in my opinion.
Despite a few purists that bought their flagship sets( Bravia 9 and A95L) and paid the prevailing price, the Sony midrange( the volume segment) makes no sense, pricewise, to me when you compare TCL and Hisense sets at the same price

There is not enough volume at the top to keep them going
They saw the writing on the wall

Bravia 7 and Bravia 9 are easily visible superior to this

If finances are a concern and you want top tier performance buy the TCL QM8K

Haven't needed that site in a while but thats shitty they paywalled it 🙄
In case you guys don't know, Rtings revamped the membership program because the LLMs are ripping off their website and showing the TV ratings on the search page, leaving their ad revenue much lower than it was earlier.
