I like to use these for fly fishing. They don't cast as nicely as the fly fishing specific indicators, but they're cheap and the design makes it easy to change the depth your nymph runs at.

not sure what you mean by "the worms were the only thing working" - the worms are the bait, of course they're the only thing that's actually going to catch the fish. these are bobbers, they're just used to keep your bait floating as whatever your desired depth is.
