I had to use some about that size in some tight spaces under a car. I was surprised that I got some pretty good "sunburn" after getting the welds done so I did a little research...
ALWAYS cover as much skin as possible when welding, kids...

not really... maybe calling it the easy bake oven tier of welding equipment is a stretch but its not too far off. If you are serious then you could probably find something respectable for light jobs for around $200

I would take a look at a welder that does both SMAW (stick) and FCAW (flux-core). You won't do yourself any favors holding up that gun when you're trying to learn how to burn metal.

There are plenty of decent multipurpose machines around in the sub-$100 range.
